Man Dead, Nine Wounded Overnight

CHICAGO — A man was killed and nine others were wounded in shootings overnight.

Most recently, a man was found fatally shot on the North Side early Saturday, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Early Saturday a 40-year-old man was shot during a robbery in Chicago Lawn, she said.

Around 5:15 a.m., the man was in the 5900 block of South California Avenue when he was approached by two men in masks who attempted to rob him, Sedevic said.

A struggle ensued and the man was shot in his right hand. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition, Sedevic said.

Around 3:30 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in a gang-related shooting in Little Village, police said.

The man was in the 2800 block of West 23rd Street when a man exited a dark-colored car and shouted gang slogans before opening fire, said Sedevic.

The man, who is a documented gang member, was struck in both of his legs and listed in serious condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, Sedevic said.

The shooter fled the scene in the car and no one is in custody for the shooting, Sedevic said.

Two people were also wounded in separate shootings in Grand Crossing overnight.

Around 2:10 a.m., a 23-year-old man was shot while standing on a porch in the 7300 block of South Kenwood Avenue when someone opened fire from a dark-colored car, Sedevic said.

He was listed in stable condition at Stroger Hospital after being shot in his ankle, Sedevic said.

The shooter fled the scene southbound and no one is in custody for the shooting, Sedevic said.

About 11:50 p.m., an 18-year-old woman was shot after a party.

The woman was in the passenger seat of a car in the 7500 block of South Kimbark Avenue when someone opened fire, striking her in her leg, Sedevic said.

The woman was taken Jackson Park Hospital, where her condition had stabilized, Sedevic said.

A 24-year-old man suffered a graze wound in a shooting in East Garfield Park.

Around 10:10 p.m., the man was standing in a parking lot in the 500 block of North Kedzie Avenue when someone opened fire from a white van, Sedevic said. He was grazed by a bullet in the face.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, Sedevic said.

Around 8:30 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot during a possible drive-by in the 4900 block of West Arthington Street in Lawndale, Sedevic said.

The man was listed in stable condition at Mount Sinai after being shot multiple times in his left leg, Sedevic said.

Three people were wounded in two separate shootings in South Chicago Friday night and afternoon.

Around 10 p.m., two teens were walking on the sidewalk in the 8000 block of South Muskegon Avenue when they were approached by an unknown man who opened fire, Sedevic said.

A 17-year-old boy was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition after being shot in his back and right leg. A 16-year-old boy was shot in the right calf ad taken to Trinity Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, Sedevic said.

Around 4:25 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot while walking in the 9000 block of South Houston Avenue after a man opened fire from a passing car, Sedevic said.

The 23-year-old man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition after being shot in his legs, Sedevic said.

The shooter fled in the car and no one is in custody for either shooting, Sedevic said.
