UKRAINIAN VILLAGE —  If digging your car out of the snow does not sound like something you want to do, a 24-year-old Humboldt Park man is ready to help, advertising his "Better Book Hook" services.

Wearing a heavy coat and carrying a shovel over his shoulder in a Paul Bunyan-esque pose, Peter Hook snapped a selfie for a flier that he put up at Ad Hoc, a boutique at 1948 W. Chicago Ave., as well as several other Ukrainian Village shops.

"Winter is upon us folks and this one's said to be record breaking. Fallen snow is beautiful but lasting effects are inconvenient and just rather annoying really. You know you hate doing it, so...  Better Book Hook," the flier says.

Hook, a waiter and an actor, grew up in San Diego and moved to Chicago three years ago.

"Last year, when we had a bunch of snow I was in the shower and had a random idea to shovel snow off of cars," said Hook, who used a borrowed shovel to serve about a dozen clients.

Hook, who does not own a car, said shoveling snow is a lot of work especially when he does it before going to his job.

"But it's good exercise and a good way to make extra money," he said.

So far, Hook, who bought a new shovel at Home Depot in preparation for the season, has no clients booked for this winter because there has been no snow.

Hook is currently out of town for the holidays and returning on Sunday.

Hook charges $20 per hour to shovel sidewalks, porches and stairs.  He charges a flat rate of $25 to "dig that car out," according to the flier.
