Seven Injured in Shootings Overnight

CHICAGO — At least seven people were injured in separate shootings overnight.

In the most recent incident two men were hospitalized in a shooting in East Garfield Park, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Around 1:22 a.m., the two men were outside in the 3100 block of West Warren Boulevard when they heard gunshots, Sedevic said.

A 23-year-old man and a 28-year-old man were both struck in their leg. They were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, Sedevic said.

A 33-year-old man was shot in West Englewood just after 1 a.m. He was walking in the 7300 block of South Damen Avenue when he was grazed in his shoulder by a bullet, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition following the shooting, Sedevic said.

A man was shot in Logan Square at the same time.

Around 9:50 p.m. Friday, a 17-year-old boy was shot in Back of the Yards, Sedevic said.

He was standing in the 5100 block of South Aberdeen Street when he was struck in his chest. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, Sedevic said.

Around the same time a 16-year-old girl was shot on the South Side.

Around 9:48 p.m., the girl was shot in her buttocks as she walked in the 3500 block of South Rhodes Avenue. She was listed in serious condition at Lurie Children's Hospital, Sedevic said.

A 25-year-old man was also shot in South Austin Friday night.

Around 8:15 p.m., the man was walking in the 5600 block of West Augusta Boulevard when he was struck in his upper right shoulder. He was taken to West Suburban Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, Sedevic said.

At least nine people were shot and one killed by gunfire in other shootings Friday.
