CHICAGO — The University of Chicago Medical Center is monitoring a child for the Ebola virus Friday, hospital officials said in a statement.

The child was admitted after exhibiting signs of a fever at O'Hare International Airport. Although the child has not showing other signs of Ebola, the patient is being quarantined until the child's condition improves. On Friday evening, the hospital said the child's condition was "stable."

According to the statement, the patient is in stable condition and receiving treatment.

The University of Chicago Medical Center is one of the Ebola Treatment facilities identified by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There are no confirmed cases of Ebola in Chicago and there is no threat to public health, the statement said.
