IRVING PARK — Cellphone stores have been the target of a string of recent burglaries in Irving Park, prompting police to issue a community alert.
In four separate incidents between Nov. 23 and Tuesday, thieves have broken into cellphone stores either by throwing a brick through the front window or prying open the rear door and then have proceeded to steal phones and other merchandise, according to police.
There is minimal description of the burglars: Two black males were seen in one case, and three hooded, masked thieves were seen in another.
The thefts took place:
- in the 3700 block of North Elston Avenue at 10 p.m. Nov. 23
- in the 3900 block of North Kimball Avenue at 1:35 a.m. Dec. 3
- in the 4000 block of West Montrose Avenue at 1:55 a.m. Friday
- in the 4000 block of West Montrose Avenue at 7:21 a.m. Tuesday
