Edgewater Fire Leaves Two Injured, Kills Family Cat

CHICAGO — Firefighters extinguished a fire in an Edgewater highrise early Monday.

Officers were notified of smoke coming from a third floor apartment in the 5800 block of North Sheridan Road around 3:20 a.m., said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

According to tweets fire department, the fire started in a third floor apartment in the 12-story building.

Two people were treated on the scene and no one was hospitalized. A cat died in the fire, according to the fire department.

The fire is under investigation.
