CHICAGO — Three police officers were among five people hurt Wednesday night in a two-car crash in Gresham.

Around 8:15 p.m., a police car traveling westbound in the 1400 block of West 87th Street struck another westbound car as it attempted to turn right onto Loomis Boulevard, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Two officers were taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious-to-stable condition and another officer was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in serious-to-stable condition. They all suffered non-life threatening injuries, Sedevic said.

The passenger in the other car, a 27-year-old man, suffered head injuries after the impact of the accident forced his head to hit the windshield. He was taken to Christ Hospital in serious condition, Sedevic said.

The driver of the car was treated and released at the scene, Sedevic said.

The driver was cited for seatbelt violations for him and his passenger and for not having insurance, Sedevic said.
