IRVING PARK — Even an everyday item like soap or a toothbrush takes on added luster when packaged in pretty paper and topped with a bow.

The Angel Team at Irving Park Lutheran Church will be wrapping gifts for the homeless Saturday, and all are invited to lend a hand.

This is a grassroots effort, so bring your own scissors, tape and gift wrap. Snacks will be provided.

Gifts would be more than welcome as well. Items such as hats, gloves, scarves and socks are always a good bet, as are toiletries, from shampoo and deodorant to nail polish and lip balm. Playing cards and crossword puzzle books are another great idea.

To join the wrapping brigade, stop by the church gym anytime between 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, 4057 N. Harding Ave.

Now in its 15th year, the Angel Team effort aims to reach 1,000 people as it distributes gifts at area shelters.
