CHICAGO— Several dozen protesters marched along North Avenue Friday as part of a national effort to bring attention to the grand jury decision not to indict Ferguson, Mo. Police Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown.
Demonstrators gathered Downtown at 8 a.m. and eventually took their message to Wicker Park, then Humboldt Park, ending their march at a Walmart in Hermosa.
"People come out in drones for Black Friday," said Kristiana Colon, director of the Let Us Breathe Collective.
The goal of the march, in addition to spreading awareness, was "to tell people not to make any purchases to put economic pressure on these corporations who support a political system that does not serve its people," Colon said.
