HYDE PARK — Man Booker Prize-winning author Richard Flanagan has canceled a planned stop at the Seminary Cooperative Bookstore on Friday due to a death in his family.

The Australian writer was scheduled to read at 6:30 p.m. from “The Narrow Road to the Deep North,” which earned him the award and a nearly $80,000 prize, at the bookstore at 5751 S. Woodlawn Ave.
