Five Injured in West Side Crash

CHICAGO — Five people were injured early Saturday when a Dodge Caravan and Mercury Sable collided in South Austin.

Around 1:40 a.m., a Dodge Caravan and Mercury Sable were heading eastbound in the 5400 block of West Chicago Avenue when the Caravan rear ended the Sable. The Caravan then struck a pole and the Sable hit a brick wall, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

A 17-year-old boy was taken to West Suburban Hospital in stable condition. A 23-year-old woman and a 31-year-old woman were taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition. A 30-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were also taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, said Sedevic.
