HUMBOLDT PARK — The Humboldt Park gastropub Hunter & Tails appears to be closed for good.

Late last week, an announcement was made via the restaurant’s Facebook page saying the pub at 2700 W. Chicago Ave. had shut its doors.

“Well it looks like we've reached our end," the post read. "We would like to thank everyone that has supported us and kept coming back for the good food good drink and good people, it's been amazing having you all as friends."

No additional information was given.

No one answered the phone at Hunter & Tails Wednesday, although the pub's website was still operational.

The restaurant opened in November 2013. It specialized in "beer and comfort food," owner Francisco "Paco" Ruiz, who also runs Humboldt Park’s Bullhead Cantina, said at the time.

"The food is a little bit pricey, we understand that. But it's cheaper than a doctor bill," he said, noting that the neighborhood was due for an upswing.

"There's a lot of potential here," he said. "Why try to into Wicker Park or Bucktown? I'd rather get into a new area, then let other people follow."
