GOLD COAST — A new Italian restaurant is slated to be housed in two historic Gold Coast residences.

The restaurant group behind La Storia Ristorante is renovating two multilevel homes, one built in 1896 and a neighboring built in 1918.

Ideology Entertainment, the group behind Blue Door Farm Stand in Lincoln Park and Chicago q, said it hopes to retain the building's charm, details and character when the renovations are complete.

The 4,000-square-foot La Storia, 1154 N. Dearborn St., will have seating for 120, and will expand to two large patios when weather permits.

The dining room will feature illustrations of Chicago personalities by caricaturist Edward Sorel. The works will be the final commissioned murals of Sorel's career, according to the restaurant.

Executive chef Justin Ferguson plans to offer a mix of old Italian and new styles.

The restaurant is planning for a late November or early December opening, according to Eater.
