Back of the Yards Shooting Leads to Murder Charges Against Man

CHICAGO — A 28-year-old man was charged with murder after a fatal shooting in Back of the Yards Friday night.

Cliffon Johnson, 28, of the 5500 block of South Washtenaw Avenue was charged in the shooting, which occurred around 11:40 p.m. Friday in the 5300 block of South Hoyne Avenue, police said.

The victim, Charles Wright, 39, of the 3100 block of West 71st Street in Marquette Park, was taken to Mount Sinai Hopsital in critical condition after being shot in his stomach. He later died from the injuries, police said.

Johnson is expected in court Monday.
