PORTAGE PARK — Plans to build apartments and shops on a now vacant parcel of land near Lawrence and Austin avenues have come back to life, Ald. Tim Cullerton (38th) said Wednesday.
A new proposal for a four-story mixed-use development in the northwest corner of Portage Park will be unveiled at a community meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Austin-Irving branch of the Chicago Public Library, 6100 N. Irving Park Road.
The development includes three six-unit apartment buildings, Cullerton said.
The plan mirrors a proposal that was approved by city officials many years ago but dropped in the midst of the Great Recession, Cullerton said.
