WICKER PARK — Lucky's Sandwich Company has made several interior design and menu changes and dropped the word "sandwiches" from the name of its Wicker Park outpost.

The changes were made to cater to a more sophisticated neighborhood clientele, since Lucky's two other locations — in Wrigleyville and on the University of Illinois at Chicago campus — are "geared more to a college sandwich-eating crowd," said Jen Leone, a spokeswoman for Lucky's Wicker Park.

"They want to make this a nicer more comfortable sports bar to give people more variety, so they stick around," Leone said.

The company expanded to Wicker Park last year.

Just north of the Milwaukee, Damn and North Avenues intersection at 1635 North Milwaukee, Lucky's still offers its stuffed sandwiches topped with slaw, though burgers and cocktails have been added to the menu, too.

Burgers include The Big Kahuna, The Muchacho and The Lucky's Burger, as well as a new pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich.

The bar also ditched bright Kelly green walls in favor of a more subdued earthy olive green and replaced a chalkboard menu that covered the length of a long wall with two flat screen TVs and vintage photographs.

To celebrate the changes, Lucky's Wicker Park is hosting a free Lagunitas "Tap Takeover" and live mural painting party with Lagunitas Brewing Company at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Featured Lagunitas craft draft beers will be $4 a pint during the party and representatives from Lagunitas will be raffling off four "VIP" tickets to a tour of their Douglas Park brewery at 2607 W. 17th St.

Leone said The VIP tour includes complimentary food and beer, both not included in the brewery's free tours.

Additionally, artist Nora Kate is scheduled to paint a mural along the bar's back wall during the party, which will also include music from local band Sklut & Weston.
