Bridgeport Car Burglars Caught Early Wednesday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Police were able to nab a pair of thieves burglarizing cars in Bridgeport Wednesday morning, police said.

Around 4 a.m., officers responded to a call of a suspicious person near 32nd Street and South Princeton Avenue and saw two men matching the description in the area. After they got out of their car, officers noticed the two men were also carrying backpacks filled with heavy items, police said.

After talking to the men the officers found the backpacks were full of stolen items including iPhones and GPS devices. Officers were able to track down several victims who were able to identify some of the items as theirs, police said.

Jeorgio Solis, 21, of the 3200 block of South Lituanica Avenue in Bridgeport was charged with four counts of felony burglary and one count of misdemeanor theft of lost property. John Eiliers, 21, of the 4400 block of South Shields Avenue in Fuller Park was charged with four counts of felony burglary and one count of misdemeanor theft of lost property.

Solis and Eiliers are expected in bond court Wednesday, police said.
