BRIDGEPORT — Master woodworker Gary "Hal" Link will share secrets of the craft in a series of upcoming workshops.

The classes take place Oct. 18-19 at Link's basement workshop in the Bridgeport Art Center, 1200 W. 35th St. The classes are free to attend.

The "Gilding for Wood: Simplified" class will include lessons on water and oil gilding, sealing, base coloring, sizing, and pagination. The "Working with the Undead" class will walk participants through "understanding wood and conditions in which it continues to move after the tree is dead and strategies to limit the movement."
