WEST LOOP — Peter Sagal, host of the NPR quiz game show "Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me!," will host a Game Night to raise money for The House Theatre of Chicago.

The first-ever event will be staged from 8-11 p.m. Oct. 18 at the West Loop's Catalyst Ranch, 656 W. Randolph St. Max Temkin, co-creator of the popular game Cards Against Humanity, will co-host the fundraiser.

At the event, Sagal and Temkin will teach guests how to play a selection of interactive art games, video games and tabletop classics. Guests will also get the chance to play Temkin’s yet-to-be-released interactive card game, Slap .45, according to Nathan Allen, The House Theatre's artistic director.

The Wicker Park theater focuses on the social potential of theatrical storytelling, which is also a key component of many indie games, Allen said.

"So many new indie game designers are looking at some similar questions about storytelling inside games. How do we get people to laugh and cry together, to have a shared and unforgettable experience with friends and strangers alike?" Allen said. The Game Night will connect the two worlds, he said.

Tickets are $30 and include admission, unlimited game play, pizza and beer. West Loop brewer Haymarket Brewing is sponsoring beer at the 21-and-over event.

Tickets can be bought online or by calling The House Theatre of Chicago at 773-769-3832.
