Hyde Park Stabbing Leaves Man Dead, Woman in Custody

CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed in a domestic-related incident in Hyde Park early Thursday, police said.

Around 3:10 a.m., the man was stabbed in his chest while in the 5100 block of South Hyde Park Boulevard, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead, Sedevic said.

The victim was identified as Damani Chenier, of the 10000 Block of South Vernon Avenue, by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

A 21-year-old woman is in custody but no charges have been filed, Sedevic said.
