HYDE PARK — The Crossing Borders Music Collective will perform interpretations of Haitian “vodou” music for a string quartet on Sunday.
The quartet will perform arrangements of a Lenten harvest festival song and other songs closely related to or inspired by vodou, the Haitain religion with roots in West African and French Catholic religious ceremonies.
The performance starts at 3 p.m. at First Unitarian Church, 5650 S. Woodlawn Ave.
Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and $10 for students.
Proceeds will benefit Haitian musicians.
The concert is part of Chicago Artists Month, which is focusing on composers from under-represented composers.
