EDGEWATER — Officials from Whole Foods will seek support for a liquor license at a public meeting Thursday hosted by Ald. Harry Osterman (48th).

Whole Foods will present plans for the new store and request support for the lifting of a moratorium in the area to allow package liquor sales and allow the store to serve alcohol to customers inside the store.

Officials will also answer questions about the general plans for the store.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Edgewater Library, 6000 North Broadway.

Osterman plans to collect input about the plans from residents living nearby the now-empty store, at 6009 North Broadway.

Whole Foods announced last year it would take over the former Dominick's.

The upscale grocer's regional vice president, Scott Saulsberry, said in May that the store should open next June. Saulsberry also said the store could include unique amenities, such as a taproom or wine bar.

Interior demolition at the building also began this summer.
