CHICAGO — Maureen Sullivan, candidate for 11th Ward alderman, is hosting a town hall forum on Wednesday.
The event takes place 7-8 p.m. at Powell's Books, 1218 S. Halsted St. It's open to the public and free to attend.
University Village neighbors are expected to voice their concerns about the condition of the 16th Street viaducts at the meeting, according to Nancy Plax, director of community outreach for the neighborhood group Connecting 4 Communities.
Earlier this month, neighbors launched a petition calling on the city's Streets and Sanitation department to commit to cleaning the viaducts on a monthly basis.
When she entered the race, Casey Cora said Sullivan is well-known in the community:
Wednesday's forum is designed for residents in the new portions of the 11th Ward to get to know her a bit better.
The 11th Ward map has been redrawn to include portions of Pilsen, Little Italy and University Village, in addition to encompassing all of Bridgeport, Canaryville and the Stockyards.
The ward map officially takes effect January 2015.
