BRIDGEPORT — A new exhibit at the Research House of Asian Art aims to explore painters' relationships with the city.
Called "A City to Wear," the show features works from 12 different Chicago artists. It kicks off 7-10 p.m. Friday at the gallery, 3217 S. Morgan St. After that, the display will be open for viewing from 1-4 p.m. on Sept. 27, Oct. 4 and Oct. 11.
The show is curated by Snow Yunxue Fu and Xiao Han, two graduates of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
They say the show is "curated under the idea of how artists relate to their current location, more specifically how Chicago painters relate to their medium while being in the city of Chicago, which it might be or not be their city of origin."
The goal of the gallery, a nonprofit founded in 2008, is to "promote an artistic cultural exchange, specifically between U.S. and Asia," gallery director Qigu Jiang said.
