CHICAGO — A late-night shooting in Belmont Cragin left a 19-year-old man dead and a 17-year-old boy hospitalized Wednesday, police said.

Around 10:50 p.m., the two victims were on the sidewalk in the 5000 block of West Wrightwood Avenue when shots were fired from an unknown direction, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman. The 19-year-old man was shot in his abdomen and the 17-year-old was shot multiple times in his legs, she said.

The homicide victim was identified as Justin Marcado of the 5000 block of West Wrightwood, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said. An autopsy determined he died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Both victims were taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where the 19-year-old was pronounced dead. The 17-year-old was listed in stable condition, said Sedevic.

No one is in custody for the shooting, which is believed to be gang-related, Sedevic said.
