World Music Festival to Make Stops at Willye White Park, Mayne Stage

ROGERS PARK — Musicians from Mali, Uganda and Hungary are set to perform in the neighborhood as part of the World Music Festival Chicago.

On Sunday, Mali's Oumar Konate and Ugandan Kinobe & The Wamu Spirit will take the stage at noon at Willye White Park, 1610 W. Howard St.

Then, at 7 p.m., Hassan Hakmoun, of Morocco, and Calypso Rose with Kobo Town, of Trinidad and Tobago, will perform at the Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse Ave.

Oumar Konate returns to the neighborhood 7 p.m. Monday at the Mayne Stage alongside Hungary's Sondorgo.

The 16th Annual World Music Festival Chicago takes place through Sept. 21 throughout the city. The 11-day, 20-venue festival features 62 artists and groups representing 33 countries.
