RAVENSWOOD — Teen pregnancy, divorce, suicide — man those ABC Afterschool Specials were one downer after the other.
Expect more laughs than tears at Monday's "Is This a Thing?" live lit series, where the lineup of readers will put their own spin on the "very special episode" concept.
The free show is set to start at 7 p.m. at O'Shaughnessy's, 4557 N. Ravenswood Ave. This month's scheduled readers are Ali Kelley, Kathy O'Neill, Catharine Savage, Joanne Singleton and Jim Sweeney.
"Is This a Thing?" debuted in February, founded by a group of StoryStudio veterans in search of an outlet for their work. The series, returning from summer break, is held the second Monday of every month.
