String of Burglaries Hits West Town, Ukrainian Village

CHICAGO — Following five burglaries in the city’s West Town and Ukrainian Village neighborhoods, police are warning residents to stay alert.

In the 12th District incidents, offenders forced entry into apartments to steal property, police said.

The crimes include break-ins at the following locations and times: 

• 2100 block of West Cortez Street on the morning of Aug. 21

• 1700 block of West Augusta Boulevard during daytime hours of Aug. 22

• 1400 block of West Cortez Street on the morning of Aug. 27

• 800 block of Damen Avenue during daytime hours of Aug. 27

• 1200 block of West Erie Street during the afternoon hours of Aug. 28

A white male, 30-35 years old, 6 feet tall and 170-220 pounds was reportedly seen in two incidents, police said.

Police are urging residents to keep doors and windows secured and to report suspicious activity immediately.

Police are asking anyone with information to call detectives at 312-747-8382.
