CHICAGO — A 50-year-old man was killed after a hit-and-run crash in East Garfield Park early Saturday, police said.

The accident happened in the 3600 block of West Congress Avenue around 12:45 a.m., according to Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

The man, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Jonathan Alexander, was crossing the street when he was struck by a silver four-door sedan traveling westbound, Estrada said. Police do not know the make and model of the car.

Alexander was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, Estrada said.

No further details surrounding the accident were immediately available.

No one is in custody, and the Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
