Friday, August 29

The Music of Sam Cooke at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., 8 p.m.

Head to Lincoln Hall for music from the "man who invented soul" Sam Cooke. In "The Cooke Book: the Music of Sam Cooke," vocalist Darian Ford performs 90 minutes of Cooke's jams done in his own classical style. Standing tickets are $20 and tickets for the seated area are $25.

The Armando Diaz Grand Opening Experience at iO Theater, 1501 N. Kingsbury St., 10 p.m.

Celebrate the official grand opening of the iO theater with a show featuring 20 of the celebrity alumni and ensemble members who have performed on the iO stage for 17 years. Those set to perform include David Koechner ("Anchorman"), Lucas Neff ("Raising Hope"), Jack McBrayer ("30 Rock"), Tim Meadows ("Saturday Night Live"), Joel Murray ("Mad Men"), Jordan Klepper ("The Daily Show") and more. Tickets to the show are $50.

Saturday, August 30

Green City Market, 1750 N. Clark St., 7 a.m.-1 p.m.

Check out the 10 new vendors at the massive outdoor market. Saturday's chef demonstration features Gale Gand of Spritzburger from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The market will be open from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays through Oct. 25.

Sunday, August 31

Ms. Pat at Zanies, 1548 N. Wells St., 8:30 p.m.

Ms. Pat regularly appears on the "Bob and Tom Show" and can be seen on Nickolodeon's "Mom's Night Out." She began touring in 2009 as the opening for Arnez J. and in July made her first TV appearance. Tickets to the 21-and-over show are $25 with the purchase of two food or drink items.

B.L.U.E.S. BBQ and Delmark's Record's West Side Soul Showcase at Chicago B.L.U.E.S. Bar, 2519 N. Halsted St., 4 p.m.

Head to one of the premiere blues bars on the North Side for its annual barbecue. Doors open at 4 p.m. and bands begin playing at 4 p.m. The monthly showcase will feature unsung heroes of old school Chicago Blues.
