CHICAGO — At least two people were wounded in separate shootings on the South and West Sides Tuesday, authorities said.

About 2:45 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot by multiple gunmen in the 700 block of North Lotus Avenue in South Austin, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman.

The man was shot in his chest and ankle and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Sweeney said.

Police did not immediately have details surrounding the shooting but said the gunmen fled on foot after the shooting.

About 2:40 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the 5700 block of South Marshfield Avenue in Englewood.

The teen was shot in his head and was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

Police did not have details about what led to the shooting but said the 19-year-old is a documented gang member.
