CHICAGO — A woman on her way to the hospital to give birth was forced to pull off the Eisenhower Expy. to deliver the baby early Wednesday.

Around 2:30 a.m., the woman pulled off the Eisenhower near the Kostner exit to give birth to the baby. When officers arrived in the 4400 block of West Lexington Street in Humboldt Park, fire crews already had helped deliver the baby, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

The mother and child were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Alfaro said.
