NOBLE SQUARE — After a man was held up at gunpoint early Sunday on the steps of his home—  an incident that neighbors say is part of a recent surge in crime — officers have relocated one Chicago Alternative Policing August meeting to the Noble Square block where the alleged crime occurred.

Usually held in the basement of a Bucktown church, the Beat 1432/33 meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at the corner of Bosworth Avenue and Blackhawk Street, weather permitting, according to a tweet from Shakespeare Police District authorities.

A flier for the meeting encourages neighbors to bring along a friend and a lawn chair.

The outdoor gathering will include complimentary Vienna beef hot dogs, water and a "roll call" with area beat patrol officers.

Reached by phone Tuesday, an officer at the Shakespeare District CAPS office said the roll call was prompted by citizens and residents who are "concerned about the situation" around the blocks near Greenview and Ashland avenues.

"The police would like to do something so the community can come together. It is also that beat's last meeting for the summer," the officer said.

The roll call and grilling will be followed by an outdoor meeting at 7 p.m., where residents can discuss crime trends and safety tips with local officers and volunteer facilitators.

Beats 1432/33 are bordered by Wood Street to the west, the Chicago River to the east, Division Street to the south and Armitage Avenue to the north.
