SOUTH SHORE — Two teens were wounded during a shooting in the city's South Shore neighborhood Monday afternoon, authorities said.
About 1:50 p.m., the two boys, ages 15 and 16, were sitting on a park bench in the 7300 block of South East End Avenue when a gunman approached them and opened fire, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.
The 15-year-old was shot in his left leg, and the 16-year-old was shot in his back, Zala said. Both boys were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where their conditions stabilized.
About 1:20 p.m., a man was shot in the Washington Heights neighborhood, police said.
The 18-year-old man told police he was in the 9500 block of South Peoria Street when he heard shots and felt pain, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a police spokeswoman.
Police found the 18-year-old in the 9500 block of South Sangamon Street, and he was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg. Authorities said the man is a documented gang member.
About 11:45 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in Logan Square. The man was shot in his leg in the 2400 block of North Talman Avenue, Zala said.
The 24-year-old was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition stabilized.
Circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately available.
