CHICAGO — A man was stabbed to death in Humboldt Park before midnight Friday night.

The incident occurred in the 3900 block of West North Avenue around 11:30 p.m., said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

The man, 28, was walking down the street when four people approached him, Estrada said. A fight broke out and someone stabbed the man multiple times in his back.

Orlando Lomax, of the 1500 block of North Karlov Avenue, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital were he was pronounced dead at 11:35 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

An autopsy determined Lomax died of a stab wound to the left back and blunt trauma to the head.

Authorities said he was a documented gang member, and the incident may have been gang-related.
