COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Chicago man is charged with armed robbery after prosecutors say he and an accomplice stole thousands of pain pills, as well as Viagra and other drugs, from a West Side pharmacy.
Frank Jemison, 43, and a second unidentified man, went to a health clinic and pharmacy in the 4800 block of West Lake Street Friday, prosecutors said. They were allowed into the clinic because one of them complained of a toothache, authorities said.
But Jemison and his alleged accomplice pulled a gun, prosecutors said. They demanded Viagra and a cornucopia of pain pills, stealing more than 3,000 total pills.
The two allegedly wrapped clinic employees' wrists in Duct tape, and then escaped with a Toshiba laptop, 56 Viagra pills, 2,300 Norco pills, 720 Xanex pills, and $65, according to a police report.
The Lawndale man, who has a long rap sheet consisting of drug cases dating back to 1990, was spotted by police on Wednesday night in the 3600 block of West 13th Street, according to the report.
Jemison, of the 1600 block of South Drake Avenue, is charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and possession of a controlled substance.
A Cook County judge ordered him held on $300,000 bail Thursday during a brief court hearing.
