NORTH CENTER — Cider fans act fast — tickets are on sale now for a pair of pop-up dinners previewing The Northman cider pub's food and beverage offerings, with fewer than 60 seats available.

The meals are scheduled for 7 p.m., Aug. 11 and 12, at Sunday Dinner Club, 3361 N. Elston Ave. Cost is $65 per person, and each dinner is limited to 28 people. Tickets can be bought online.

The preview will include a sampling of dishes from The Northman's menu, created by chef Cleetus Friedman, as well as cider pairings for each course.

A taste of what to expect: homemade charcuterie, roasted artichoke, excargot in cider butter, and rabbit and prosciutto roulade. Expected ciders include Uncle John's Russet, made in Michigan; Tieton Dry Cider, from Washington; and Christian Drouin Poire, a pear cider all the way from France.

The Northman, 4337 N. Lincoln Ave., is the latest venture from the team behind Fountainhead and Bar on Buena. Plans are to have more than 100 varieties of cider available via tap, cask or bottle.

The restaurant/pub is slated to open in the fall.
