ALBANY PARK — With Albany Park's first-ever World Fest just weeks away, organizers have sent out a call for volunteers to help make sure the event, set for Aug. 16-17, runs smoothly.

Opportunities include working the festival's entrance gate or beer tent — those interested must be 21 years old in order to sign up for a shift.

Beer tent responsibilities include checking IDs and serving beer. Shifts, which last from three to four hours, are still available both days of the fest. The earliest shift starts at 11:30 a.m., the latest at 6:30 p.m.

Gate volunteers will collect the suggested $5 entry fee from patrons and stamp hands. Volunteers are needed for all shifts, which last from two to 3½ hours.

Sign up online or in person at a volunteer expo set for 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Templestowe Pub, 3135 W. Montrose Ave.

World Fest is scheduled to run noon-10 p.m. Aug. 16 and noon-9 p.m. Aug. 17 at Lawrence and Kimball avenues.
