Firefighters Will Demonstrate Helicopter Rescues at 57th Street Beach

HYDE PARK — Firefighters will give a live demonstration of how they use helicopters to save people drowning in the lake at a safety class on Thursday at 57th Street Beach.

Chicago Fire Commissioner Jose Santiago will present the free hour-long class at 3 p.m. to teach basic water and boating safety.

The class is sponsored by Ald. Lelsie Hairston (5th), Ald. Natashia Holmes (7th) and Ald. John Pope (10th).
