CHINATOWN — Hosted by the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, the "Forgotten Chinatown" tour takes urban explorers through the cultural, ethnic and architectural history of one of the city's most unique neighborhoods.
The rain-or-shine event begins at noon Aug. 3. Tickets are $15 each and are available online.
Led by Forgotten Chicago, the tour steps off from the intersection of Archer and Wentworth avenues near the CTA Red Line's Chinatown-Cermak station. It's expected to take a little less than three hours, organizers said.
Among the stops on the walking tour will be St. Therese Chinese-Catholic Mission, ornate buildings along Wentworth Avenue and some of the architecturally significant industrial buildings on Cermak Road along the Chicago River’s South Branch.
The first installment of the tour sold out quickly, so organizers are encouraging people to buy tickets in advance.
