CHICAGO — There's no better time than summer to get reacquainted with Chicago barbecue, especially as two city spots have been named among the best places to get barbecue in the United States.

Carson's Prime Steaks & Famous Barbecue, 612 N. Wells St., took the fifth spot in the rankings — with its Milwaukee location taking sixth — to become the highest-ranking spot in the city. Chicago q, 1160 N. Dearborn St., took the seventh spot.

While other Illinois restaurants are named — including Chuck's Southern Comforts Cafe in Burbank and Darien (Nos. 8 and 9) and the Piggyback Tavern in Forest Park (No. 26) — no other Chicago barbecue locations made the rankings, which were compiled by OpenTable.

The rankings are based on reviews submitted for more than 19,000 barbecue restaurants across the country, according to an OpenTable news release.

DNAinfo.com caught up with some local pitmasters — including Chicago q's Lee Ann Whippen — at last weekend's Windy City Smokeout. Check out the video.

Chicago food has also fared well in rankings from the Daily Meal, a foodie website that says the city has some of the country's best burritos, burgers and more.
