LAKEVIEW — Local fitness franchise Barre Bee Fit announced this week it's changing its name and opening a fifth Chicago location.

"Barre Bee Fit will now officially be known as The Barre Code," founders Jillian Lorenz and Ariana Chernin announced on Facebook.

"We've always lived by the barre code, and now it's what we will be. We can't wait to see all of our Bees evolve with us during this exciting new phase! #barrecodelove."

The move comes as the company, which has four Chicago locations and franchises across the country, celebrates its fourth anniversary.

Come August, The Barre Code will expand into Lakeview with a second-floor studio near Belmont and Sheffield avenues, a spokeswoman said Wednesday. She declined to give an exact address.

The Barre Code already has studios in the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Downtown and River North.

The Lakeview studio will be just feet away from The Barre Method at 3144 N. Sheffield Ave. and about a mile from Pure Barre, 3245 N. Ashland Ave. All three studios offer ballet barre-inspired workouts with different modifications.

The Barre Code says it "blends the ballet barre with female-focused choreography." Different classes emphasize cardio, yoga, strength training or boot camp moves.
