Man Dies After Being One of Three Wounded in South Chicago Shooting

CHICAGO — One of three people shot in a South Chicago shooting late Sunday has died.

William Allen, a 25-year-old from the 3500 block of South State Street in Bronzeville, was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 2:27 p.m. Monday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

He is one of at least 13 people murdered in violence across the city during the Fourth of July weekend.

A group of men approached Allen and the two others wounded around 11:20 p.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of East 81st Street, police said.

Allen was shot in his head and sent to the hospital in critical condition.

A 19-year-old woman was in stable condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center after being shot in her body.

A 47-year-old man was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in stable condition after being shot in his ankle, police said.
