CHICAGO — One man was killed and at least one more was wounded in separate shootings on the city's South Side Saturday, authorities said.

Deandre Brown, 33, died after he was shot in the South Chicago neighborhood Saturday morning.

The 33-year-old was shot in his leg and abdomen about 10:20 a.m. in the 8700 block of South Houston Avenue, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman.

Brown, of the 9000 block of South Mackinaw Avenue, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition and was pronounced dead there at 11:38 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Details surrounding the shooting were not immediately available, and no one is in custody in connection with Brown's death, Sweeney said.

Hours later, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the Chatham neighborhood.

About 4:20 p.m., the teen was shot in his buttocks in the 700 block of East 79th Street, Sweeney said.

The boy was taken to Jackson Park Hospital where his condition stabilized, Sweeney said. Further details were not immediately available.
