COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A suburban man was arrested Friday night on Northerly Island for punching a police officer after a Dave Matthews Band concert, prosecutors said

Prosecutors said Gerald Chverchko, 42, was leaving the music show at the First Merit Bank Pavilion about 11:25 p.m. when officers spotted him in the middle of the street in the 1300 block of South Lynn White Drive just outside the venue.

An officer allegedly told Chverchko, of suburban Huntley, to get out of the street three separate times, according to a police report.

After the third time, Chverchko yelled at the officer, "Try and get me out of the street."

When the officer tried to move the Chverchko, he resisted and punched the officer twice in the face before he was arrested, according to a police report. The 42-year-old was also injured in the scuffle and was taken to Mercy Hospital where he was treated for a facial injury.

Chverchko appeared in bond court Saturday facing two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer. Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas ordered him held on $10,000 bond.
