Boy, 13, Charged with Three Counts of Attempted Murder

CHICAGO — A 13-year-old boy was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder after shooting three teens in Washington Heights Monday night, police said.

Around 6 p.m. Monday, the boy opened fire at a group of men in the 9700 block of South Lowe Avenue, police said.

A 17-year-old boy was taken Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition after being shot in his armpit and head.

A 14-year-old boy was in stable condition after being shot in his thigh and another person, who police first reported as a man but later said was a teen, was shot in his head and body. The 14-year-old and teen were taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, police said.

The teen was in critical condition, police said.

The 13-year-old boy, whose name is being withheld because he is a juvenile, was charged with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated battery, police said.
