PILSEN — Rent out vintage furniture shop Modern Cooperative and if you're lucky you might just get to party with local neighborhood celebrity Shop Dog.

"If there isn’t too large of a crowd, Shop Dog will probably make an appearance," Modern Co-op co-owner Tiffany Paige said laughing. "It's so crazy. He's even got his own hashtag now."

Getting a private hang session with Shop Dog — Paige's chihuahua, Joplin, a fixture at the store — is just one perk of being able to rent out Modern Cooperative, an option Paige formally introduced on June 19 via the website thestorefront.com

Now, Paige said, those looking to enjoy the shop's vintage and handmade furniture can do so after hours -— at $375 a pop.

"For us, it just made sense. We’ve always thought about doing it," she said. "The shop's got a good feel. It's very cozy with great atmosphere."

Paige said the shop will cater to smaller events (between 15 and 45 people) that range from book clubs to trunk shows, pop-up shops, workshops and even small receptions.

The shop is closed Monday and Tuesday with regular business hours being noon-7 p.m. Wednesdays to Fridays and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

To reserve the store, go to thestorefront.com or call Modern Cooperative at 312-226-8525.
