Roseland Shooting Injures Man, Three Others Wounded Overnight

CHICAGO — A 32-year-old man shot during a robbery in Roseland was among four people shot across the city overnight.

Around 9:40 p.m. Thursday, the man was getting into his car after leaving a friend's house in the 10800 block of South Eggleston Avenue when a man approached and tried to rob him. The robber shot the man in his buttocks and arm. He was transferred to Roseland Community Hospital, where his condition stabilized, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

In the most recent shooting, a 27-year-old woman was shot in her chest while walking down the street in the 4700 block of West Gladys Avenue in West Garfield Park. She was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious condition after the shooting, which occurred around 2:05 a.m. Friday, Gaines said.

Around 1:43 a.m. Friday, a 20-year-old man was also shot during a robbery in the 5200 block of West Division Street in Austin. The man was at a gas station when two men approached and tried to rob the man. When he refused, one of the men shot him in the leg and buttocks, Gaines said.

Hospital information was not available for the man, Gaines said.

Around midnight, a 20-year-old man was shot while standing on the sidewalk in the 1600 block of West 81st Street in Gresham. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition stablized after being shot in his lower right abdomen, Gaines said.
