NEAR WEST SIDE — A league of professional skateboarders will compete Sunday at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Founded by pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek in 2010, Street League Skateboarding was created to cultivate acceptance of street skateboarding on a worldwide scale.

The competition, part of a world tour, will be held Sunday at UIC Pavilion, which will be transformed into a custom concrete skate plaza for the event.

The winner of each tour event will also be guaranteed a spot in 2014's Super Crown World Championship at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.  The finalists will be competing for the largest prize in skate history — more than $1 million.

All skateboarding events will get extensive international coverage on FOX Sports 1, with additional live coverage on StreetLeague.com.

Sunday's event starts at noon, with a free outdoor expo open to the public. Preliminary rounds begin at 2:40 p.m. with the finals at 6 p.m. Tickets start at $25, with group ticket packages available. Tickets can be bought at Street League's website here.
