LAKEVIEW — A cafe devoted to craft beer is opening in Lakeview this weekend with special drafts from Goose Island, Two Brothers and Oskar Blues.

Owner Paul Leamon announced in February he'd launch Beermiscuous at 2812 N. Lincoln Ave. this summer.

The spacious cafe — which opens to the public Saturday — sells draft pints and mix-and-match six-packs. Customers can sample every beer before they buy, and stay as long as they like.

"I've been in a store before where I'd want to grab a new beer, but I'd have to wait to get home to try it," Leamon said. "That's the draw here. You can sit and stay, get a six-pack or do both."

Beermiscuous can hold about 80 people on the main floor. There's free Wi-Fi, a bar with 12 rotating drafts, lounge chairs and magazines. The goal was to create a laid-back environment similar to a neighborhood cafe.

"But instead of coffee," Leamon said, "we do all craft beer."

Downstairs, a private room seats 20. Leamon said the room would be ideal for birthday or bachelorette parties — or even meetings. The walls are covered with chalkboard paint, and groups can bring in outside catering "as long as they buy our beer."

Leamon said on-site prices would be comparable to Fountainhead or Beer Bistro. Take-home pricing will mirror joints like Bottles and Cans or Maria's.

A team of "beeristas" can help with selections, Leamon said. And bottles will be color-coded (orange for IPA, blue for stout, and so on).

To celebrate Beermiscuous' grand opening, the cafe is partnering with Goose Island on Saturday. Five beers, including Madame Rose, will be on tap. From 5-7 p.m., Goose Island reps will be giving away prizes.

On Sunday, Beermiscuous will partner with three breweries and feature two taps from each. Two Brothers will be on site from 1-3 p.m., Metropolitan Brewing from 3-5 p.m., and Oskar Blues from 5-7 p.m.

Once the cafe launches, Beermiscuous will be open from noon-10 p.m. Tuesdays to Thursdays; noon-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and noon-7 p.m. Sundays.
